About BMI
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a value derived from a person's weight and height. It provides a simple numeric measure of a person's thickness or thinness, allowing health professionals to discuss weight problems more objectively with their patients.
Divide your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared.
Divide your weight in pounds by your height in inches squared, then multiply by 703.
BMI is a useful measurement for most people over 18 years old, but it does have limitations. It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others with muscular builds, and underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle mass.
